7 Reasons to Buy a Yongnuo Speedlight

There are lots of speedlight and flash options out there, but the Yongnuo Speedlight has become my favorite. I have several of them for shooting weddings and studio photography and would highly recommend them for several reasons.

1. They are powerful little flashes.
I get a lot out of these when I photograph dark wedding receptions. They can light up the room for me. But the effect in the photos isn't overwhelming either.
2. Their battery life lasts quite a while.
Four double AA batteries per flash will get me through two or three weddings, which is quite a bit of shooting.
3. They don't cost very much.
They are a fraction of the price of the Nikon Speedlights I used to shoot with, and I personally like how they perform much better. And if some reason reason they break (I have had that happen at a wedding before where one ended up getting smashed on the ground when my lighting stand got tipped over) it isn't a huge cost to replace them.
4. They can be set up with wireless triggering.
This is a huge plus, because not only can you put them on your camera's hot shoe and just shoot with one flash, you can attach a wireless trigger to your hot shoe, and have multiple flashes around the room going off. I use this to light up dance floors all the time.
5. They can rotate up and down as well as 360 degrees. This provides me a lot of flexibility when I'm trying to adjust my lighting, or bounce my flash off of weird locations.
6. Their recycle time is very quick.
I don't have to wait long between shots with a 3s recycle time.
7. They are multipurpose.
You can use them as a single speedlight on top of your camera, or you can attach them to a lighting stand, and add a soft box or umbrella and you've got a inexpensive but effective studio set up.

With all that, here is a link to the flash and equipment you might need so you can go take a look!

You can also buy used older discontinued versions for even cheaper, but buying new so that you have the warranty is nice with these.

If you want to use the flashes wirelessly, you'll need a trigger.
The flash will work with most cameras, the triggers however will not (the first time I purchased these I accidentally got a Canon trigger and was very sad when they showed up and didn't work on my Nikon camera). So be sure to purchase a trigger compatible to your camera.
